Inio Asano’s Dead Dead Demon’s Dedede Destruction Is Getting an Anime
  • Inio Asano's famous manga is being made into an anime.
  • Production +h will be producing the anime.
  • Little is known about the project, other than it is happening.

This Wednesday, GAGA Communications posted a video on their Enblish and Japanese websites to announce that Inio Asano's Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction manga (sometimes referred to as DDDD) will be the basis for a new anime. This will be the first adaptation of any work by Inio Asano. Production +h, known for producing Space Camper Chicchi (movie) will be producing the anime.

A very excited Inio Asano drew the following illustration for the anime announcement:

The manga revolves around two girls, Kadode Koyama and her friend Ouran Nakagawa, and others living out their teenage years as they come to terms with a world where a giant mothership appeared over Tokyo.

Dead Dead Demon’s Dedede Destruction inspired a 3D animated promotional video in September 2020 and won the Best General Manga award at the 66th Shogakukan Manga Awards (January 2021). DDDD, as it is known, was also honored in the manga category of the 25th Media Arts Festival Awards this year in Japan.

If you want to read up on DDDDD, Viz Media is releasing the manga in the United States pretty soon, so stay tuned for our review on the first issue.
